The thumbnail images shown in the Latest News and Content Feed applets are controlled by the content’s metadata image.
When editing a news article or blank page, select Continue to open the Publication/Meta-data page. From there, you can set the preview image used in Latest News Applets and use the Content Thumbnail Manager to adjust the image focal point for the Content Applet.
