The Awards Applet enables employees to recognise and nominate colleagues who demonstrate your organisation's core values, creating a positive and supportive workplace.
Nominations are submitted using the STAR framework (Situation, Task, Action, Result), encouraging meaningful and detailed recognition. Once submitted, nominations are visible to all employees, celebrating achievements across the organisation.
This guide covers:
Before you start:
- You must be a System Manager to switch Awards on in the Site Settings
- You must be a Homepage Manager for the area you would like to add the applet
- The Awards Applet will need to be included in your Oak package. If you would like to explore this, please speak with your Account Manager.
Setting up the Awards Applet
-
Before adding the Awards Applet, it needs to be enabled and set up first. To switch the applet on, go to the Actions button > Configure and then select Site Settings
-
Navigate to Applications on the left and find Awards in the list. If it hasn't been enabled already, click on the toggle to switch on, followed by clicking Save at the bottom of the applications list
-
Once Awards has been enabled, the rest of the set up is handled by the Oak team. You will need to provide us with your values and a brief description for each one. We're also able to set colours of your choice to represent each value. Reach out to your Account Manager or the Oak Support Team to get started.
-
There is also the option to customise the four sections the employee is asked to fill out in the STAR format. Here's the out-of-the-box text:
-
Give a summary of why you are making this nomination?
In 500 characters of less, tell us why their outstanding determination should be celebrated.
-
The challenge (Situation / Task)
Tell us about the background to your nomination. What were the objectives? Who was involved?
-
What they did (Action)
Explain why this was above and beyond their normal role, how they showed real determination in living our values - include and barriers they had to overcome too.
-
The difference they made (Result)
Tell us what they achieved and the result
-

-
Select Manage Permissions / Security and click into Awards
-

Note: Awards reporting can be requested on a one-off or recurring basis. If you need reporting for a set period of time, for example after an awards season, reach out to your Account Manager. To receive regular reporting, please raise a ticket with the Support team.
