Need to update your intranet structure to reflect a change in your business, or spotted an area in the wrong place? Oak lets you move an area, along with everything that sits beneath it, so it lives under a new parent area.
This guide will walk you through moving an area to a new place in your structure.
This guide covers:
Before you start:
- You need the Area Manager permission for both the area you're moving and the area you're moving it to.
- Everything beneath the area you move (its sub-areas and content) moves with it.
Moving an area
- Go to the Actions button > Configure > Manage Areas.
- Search for and select the name of the area you want to move. The Manage menu opens. Click Move.
- The Move menu shows where the area currently sits and everything that lives within it. Select the pencil icon to open the object picker.
- Find the new parent area, either by searching or by drilling down through the options. The object picker only shows valid locations (for example, you can't move a department into a folder) and areas where you have the Area Manager permission. For help, see How to use the Object Picker to select areas, content and people.
- Make your selection and select OK. The area and everything beneath it now sits under its new parent area.
