System user groups are pre-defined dynamic groups that are automatically populated with users by Oak so you can use them to assign security roles and communicate to as a set audience of people.
These are ‘Department Managers’, ‘Line Managers’, ‘Office Managers’ and ‘New Starters’. These groups are automatically populated and clicking on the group provides visibility of the members just like any other group. The Department and Office Manager groups are fully automated and literally list department managers and office managers (defined when managing areas) respectively.
The line managers group includes anyone who has people who report to them, i.e. they are a manager. The ‘New Starters’ group is also fully automated, however it is slightly different in that you have options! You get a simple interface that allows you to specify how long a user is classified as a new starter.
Once you’ve chosen the option from the drop down, click update and the group is populated with members that reflect your choice. This is based on a user’s start date if they have one, otherwise Oak will use the account creation date.
