Oak uses pre-defined security roles to make it easy for you to control who has access to what within your site. There are now two different types of security permissions; advanced and simplified.
Please note that some Oak intranets do not have Simplified Permissions enabled. If you'd like to explore enabling this feature, please reach out to your Account Manager or the Oak support team.
Advanced Permissions (Legacy)
All intranet sites, including recently implemented sites, will include Advanced Permissions. Advanced Permissions can be used alongside Simplified Permissions, in situations where you may wish to use advanced to set up security at the top business level, due to complexities that Simplified Permissions alone cannot cover.
To find Advanced Permissions, go to the page options (three dots) in the top right corner of the main homepage. Simplified Permissions
Simplified Permissions is a new feature that streamlines permission management across all areas of your site, providing an overview of assigned user groups and their permission levels. This new way of assigning permissions eliminates the need to search through every area and element (e.g. content, events, timeline) to view the different permission levels. Instead, you can easily assign one overarching permission to a user group within an area of the intranet. For areas where Simplified Permissions do not meet your business needs, Advanced Permissions remain available, allowing for more specific configurations. If Simplified Permissions have been enabled, you will see Manage Permissions within the homepage page options (three dots).
