What is SociableKIT?
Social media feeds, such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, can be embedded on your Oak homepage using SociableKIT (sociablekit.com). It's a third-party service that lets you embed social media feeds and widgets without needing to manage the integration yourself.
Note: For Facebook and Instagram feeds, don't forget you can use the External News Applet. If you are looking to add a LinkedIn feed, SociableKIT allows up to 1 free source in their free plan.
Step-by-Step Setup
Step 1: Set Up Your Widget on SociableKIT
-
Go to sociablekit.com and create an account or log in
-
Select the type of social feed you want to display (e.g. LinkedIn Posts)
-
Connect your social media account and configure your feed settings
-
Choose a layout - SociableKIT offers several display options:
Grid - a clean, structured layout
Masonry - a Pinterest-style staggered layout
Carousel - a horizontal scrolling layout
Step 2: Get Your Embed Code
-
Once your widget is configured, click the Embed on Website button in SociableKIT
-
In the pop-up that appears, select the iFrame option. (Note: you must select the iFrame option; the JavaScript and Link options will not work in this context)
- Copy the iFrame embed code provided
Step 3: Add SociableKIT as an External Source in Oak
To ensure the feed displays correctly, you need to whitelist the SociableKIT domains in your Oak settings.
-
In your Oak site, Go to Site Settings
-
Navigate to Integrations > External Sources
-
Click Add and enter all of the following domains:
→ https://widgets.sociablekit.com - Save your changes
Step 4: Embed the Widget on a Homepage
-
Go to the homepage or content where you would like to display the social feed
-
Add the Custom Content Applet from the pencil toolbox and go to Tools > Source Code
-
Paste the iFrame code you copied from SociableKIT into the Source Code box and click OK to save
- Publish the homepage or content - your social feed will now display correctly
Tips & Troubleshooting
My feed isn't showing up
- Check that you selected iFrame (not JavaScript or Link) in SociableKIT
-
Check that https://widgets.sociablekit.com has been added to your External Sources list
Which layout should I choose?
There's no single right answer - it depends on the content and homepage design. Here's a quick breakdown:
- Grid: Great for a uniform, structured look
- Masonry: Works well when posts have varying lengths
-
Carousel: Ideal when space is limited or you want a dynamic feel
I want to show Instagram or Facebook, not just LinkedIn
You'll need to upgrade to a paid SociableKit plan to add additional social sources beyond the one free source included. We recommend using the External News Applet to display Instagram and Facebook feeds.
