Adding a profile photo is a simple way to help people put a name to a face. It helps colleagues recognise you when communicating through non-visual channels like Oak Messenger, and helps others recognise you on special occasions, such as your birthday or anniversary, or when you’re away on holiday. A cover photo can add your own personal touch, visible to anyone who visits your profile.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to update your profile picture and cover photo in just a few steps on both desktop and the mobile app.
Before you start
- If your organisation has already added a profile photo and cover photo for you, they may have turned off the option to update one or both. If this is the case, you may see different options from those described in this guide.

On desktop
Updating your profile photo

From any homepage, click your profile image in the top-right corner

The Oak sidebar will open. Click the drop-down next to your current profile image and name. Within this menu, select Profile

Next to your name, hover over the profile icon and select the camera icon that appears

The media picker will open, allowing you to choose or upload an image. Select OK to confirm - you'll see a green confirmation pop-up

To remove it, hover over the image and select the red cross that appears
Updating your cover photo

From your profile, click the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner of the cover photo (the banner across the top)

Select Change cover photo followed by choosing or uploading an image in the picker. Select OK to confirm - you'll see a green confirmation pop-up

To remove it, go back to the three dots and Delete cover photo
On mobile
Updating your profile photo

From the mobile homepage, tap your profile image in the top-right corner

Click on the drop-down arrow next to your profile and name to open the menu

Go into Profile

Tap on your profile image. The media picker will open, allowing you to choose an existing image or upload from your photo library, files, or take a photo with the camera

Tap OK to confirm your selection
- To remove the image, tap the red cross next to the profile image
Updating your cover photo

From the profile, go to the three horizontal dots in the top-corner of the cover photo

Select change cover photo. The media picker will open, allowing you to choose an existing image or upload from your photo library, files, or take a photo with the camera
- To remove your cover photo, go to the horizontal dots again and delete cover photo
