If your employees log in to the intranet with a username and password, the login page is their first impression. It’s a great opportunity to welcome them, build familiarity and set the tone for the experience ahead.
In this guide, you’ll discover how to take your login page to the next level with engaging imagery and helpful signposting.
Before you start
- You will need be assigned the System Manager permission to be able to edit the default branding theme
- If employees are seamlessly signing in via Entra ID (previously Active Directory), they will not land on this page
Customising the login page
-
Navigate to the Actions button and then Configure. From the menu, click into Site Settings.
-
Select the Branding tab on the left-hand side to view the existing branding themes.
-
The login page is only editable in your intranet's default theme. Find the Default branding theme (at the bottom of the list) and go to the three vertical dots to the right of the theme. Select Edit.
Note: The login page can only be customised within the default theme, so all users will see the same login page, regardless of their assigned theme. Keep this in mind when choosing your imagery and wording.
-
Across the top of the default theme, click into the Login tab.
-
All elements with a dotted line around them are customisable. When you click on them, the edit options will appear on the right-hand side of your screen (a choose image button or a text field).
-
Toggle between the desktop and mobile preview. The mobile preview is the smartphone browser view, however we always recommend employees download and pair with the Oak Mobile App for the best experience.
-
The top image and bottom image can be updated. Click within their dotted lines and choose a new image from the media picker.
Recommended image size: 1920x1080px (including GIFs)
-
The large image on the right-hand side of the login page can be updated. Click on the image and select from the media picker. Multiple images can be uploaded to create a carousel, presenting employees with a different image every time they visit the page.
You may want to show images of the company location, employees, or a month's calendar view showing what's going on.
-
Add a welcome/sign-in message, along with the username and password placeholder text.
- Once all sections have been updated, go to the bottom-right corner and select Submit to save the default theme.
