If you’re technically minded, you may from time to time wish to edit the source code of an item of content to include an iFrame containing content coming from a third party source.
When you do this there are a few things that could prevent the iFrame from displaying properly within your content.
Firstly for security reasons any external websites that you want to pull content from within an iFrame must be included in the whitelist for your environment. Standard sources such as YouTube and Vimeo are automatically included, however very specific sites would need to be added.
It is extremely important to understand that the external site you wish to get your information from must be a secure site. The easiest way to check this is to ensure the URL begins with https//….
Another reason you may have issues viewing the content of the iFrame is if the website you’ve chosen does not permit its content to be used within an iFrame. Some well-known sites such as Google stop you from displaying their site content within a frame.
One more thing to check is that your code does not contain any JavaScript. The content editor strips this code out for security reasons and this could stop your content from showing.
Finally, as you’re including this content via the source code option in the editor, it is worth checking that the code you’ve added is correct. Unfortunately this isn’t something we can assist with, however our recommendation wherever possible would be to use the official share code provided by the external site. An excellent example of which is the embed code provided by YouTube under their ‘share’ option below most videos.
To add a secure site to your whitelist simply navigate to the Integration tab which can be found under the Control Panel and Site Settings. Select the 'External Sources' tab at the top of this page and then add your URLs.
